phoenix

she spends her days climbing
never finding height, or distance
she understands why you stopped

the truth seeps from her pores
it stings her face, as it falls from her eyes
it screams, as it slips from her tongue

with time it eases, and it dies, enough
this desireless familiarity
she understands why you stopped

but how many times
can she repeat, to then reinvent
undone, to be redone

She had nothing to do but to forgive herself and be happier than everJane Austen
